KAMIYA HAKIZIMANA
Kamiya’s experience varies from academic research, to practice in the role of Design Architect and Project Manager. Before joining graduate school, Kamiya practiced in several countries in Africa. While pursuing his education, he continued working on different project as a freelance architect and work for Turner Construction on a project the campus of the University of Ohio, in Columbus.
Mr. Kamiya briefly worked for the Consortium OZ ARCHITETURE and TETRA TECH during the elaboration of the preliminary design for Kigali and Rwamagana/Rwanda masterplans, then later founded GMK Architecture Ltd that has its head-office in Kigali-Rwanda. His research and professional skills in both architectural design and urban planning provide him with the critical balance between design considerations, technical issues and budget constraints. During his professional practice as well as his academic pursuit, Kamiya has gained a deeper understanding of clients’ needs and how to maximize on the quality of the end product.
